About SHURIKEN KARATE and KICKBOXING CENTRE
Shuriken Karate and Kickboxing Centre, also known as Shuriken Martial Arts, is a martial arts and fitness school in Al Karama, Dubai. Its programmes page lists Shotokan karate, kickboxing, Muay Thai, yoga and dance, and the centre describes its training as being for all ages and skill levels. Videos on its Facebook page from August 2025 show children's karate classes in white uniforms and coloured belts, and children doing kickboxing drills and pad work with a coach. Karate is taught as structured lessons aimed at confidence and self-defence, while kickboxing and Muay Thai are described as training for strength, endurance and agility. On Google it holds a 4.9 rating from 104 reviews. Age groups, class times and fees are not published, so message the centre to ask which class suits your child before you book. The centre lists its hours as Monday to Saturday, 9am to 10pm, closed on Sunday.
The activity
Martial Arts, explained
Karate and kickboxing teach children to strike, block and move with control, building coordination, discipline and confidence. Shotokan is a traditional Japanese style of karate built on strong stances, powerful strikes and set sequences of moves called kata, with coloured belts marking progress. Sessions usually mix a warm-up, technique drills on their own or with a partner or pads, and light sparring as skill grows. Many schools take children from about four to six years old. Beyond fitness, parents often value the listening, patience and self-control that a structured martial arts class asks of young children.
Who it's for
The centre says its programmes are for all ages and skill levels, and its Facebook page says it offers students of all ages a range of martial arts training. Its Facebook videos from August 2025 show children of different ages in karate classes and kickboxing drills. No age groups or junior class names are published, so ask the centre which class suits your child's age and experience.
What to expect
Shuriken does not publish a trial class, first-session details or a kit list. Its Facebook videos give a feel for a children's karate class: a group warm-up and stretching on the mats, then drills in white karate uniforms with coloured belts. Kickboxing sessions in the videos include reaction drills and kicks on pads held by a coach. Message the centre on WhatsApp (+971 56 508 3456) or email [email protected] to ask about a trial, what your child should wear and which class to start in.
