The activity

Martial Arts, explained

Martial arts classes teach discipline, balance and self-control through structured drills, partner practice and a grading system that marks progress with coloured belts. Brazilian jiu-jitsu and judo are grappling arts: children learn to grip, throw, hold and escape on soft mats, without punching or kicking. Karate is a striking art built on stances, blocks, punches and kicks, often practised in set sequences called kata. All three build strength, coordination and confidence, and teach children to follow instructions and look after their training partners. Starting ages vary from club to club, so ask which group suits your child. Martial arts suit kids who enjoy routine, physical activity and a clear sense of steady progress.

Who it's for

Children and adults. The dojo's Instagram bio lists karate, judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes for kids and adults, and its highlights include Kids BJJ and Kids Karate. The dojo and Rossi Team Academy posted a kids' graduation and kids' awards at the Garhoud dojo in November 2025. No current age groups or levels are published, so ask the dojo which class suits your child.

What to expect

Call or message the dojo first to ask which class suits your child's age and experience, and when that class trains. Rossi Team Academy marks children's progress with graduations: the dojo hosted one in November 2025, and the wider academy posted more in March and June 2026. Google lists the dojo's opening hours, for example Monday 9-10AM and 4-8PM and Saturday 9:30AM-1PM; these are opening hours, not a class timetable. No kit list, trial-class policy or fees are published, so ask what a first session involves, what your child should wear and bring, and whether they can try a class before signing up.
