Rhythmix Club Dubai — Rhythmic Gymnastics
About Rhythmix Club Dubai
Rhythmix Club Dubai runs rhythmic gymnastics classes for girls aged 3 and above, from a Mini class for 3-5 year olds through Starters, Pre-Advanced and Advanced groups. The club's classes page says all gymnastics classes take place at Dubai American Academy in Al Barsha; its locations page also lists Raffles World Academy, so confirm your daughter's venue when you book. The club was set up in 2023 by head coach Iana Modeva, who competed nationally in Bulgaria; her coaching team includes Emilia Baghiyeva, a former Azerbaijan national team gymnast and Master of Sport, and Mehak Kaur, a certified coach and judge who represented India internationally. Beginners need no previous experience, and the club says its gymnasts take part in competitions in Dubai. Every new gymnast can book a free trial, after which the coaches talk to parents about the right level. Rhythmix also runs fusion and break dance classes, open to all dancers, and adult classes in stretching, heels, kickboxing and yoga.
The activity
Gymnastics, explained
Rhythmic gymnastics blends dance, artistic expression and handling of apparatus - hoops, balls, clubs, ribbons and ropes - into routines set to music. Gymnasts spin, toss and catch the apparatus while performing leaps, balances and flexibility moves, so the sport builds flexibility, strength, coordination and focus, along with musicality and confidence in front of an audience. Beginners start with freehand work: the basics of rhythmic movement, stretching and body skills, before adding apparatus and competition routines as they progress. Classes are usually grouped by level rather than age alone, and many clubs take girls from preschool age. It suits children who love music, dance and performing as much as sport.
Who it's for
Girls aged 3 and above, at all skill levels. Levels as the club lists them: Mini (3-5 years), Starters (4-12, no previous experience needed), Pre-Advanced (6-12, freehand routines and competitions) and Advanced (6-12, competing in freehand and apparatus). The club also names a Masters level; ask the provider about it.
What to expect
Every new gymnast can book a free trial session through the link on rhythmix.ae. After the trial, the coaches discuss with parents which class suits the gymnast. Starters classes cover the basics of rhythmic movement, stretching and freehand rhythmic gymnastics; each class is 90 minutes and gymnasts attend up to three times a week. Pre-Advanced classes are two hours and Advanced classes three hours. Membership is required to join. Ask the provider what to wear and bring to a first session and about fees.
