About Race Pace Swimming
Race Pace Club (registered as RACE PACE SWIMMING TRAINING SERVICES) is a Dubai swim club that teaches children from their first strokes through to racing, at pools in Al Warqa 1, Al Barsha 2 and Al Mizhar. Its programmes page describes the kids' classes as seven stages of progressive skill development for ages 3 to 14. The levels are Star Fish, Turtles, Seahorse, Swordfish and Crocodile, followed by two advanced levels, Whales and Shark, which focus on stroke technique. After that comes the squad team, a competitive group for children who want to race. Groups have a maximum of five children. There are also one-to-one lessons, and two-to-one lessons for siblings or friends of a similar level. Everything starts with an assessment class so the coaches can see where your child is, and parents can ask for a male or female coach. Monthly kids' packages are sold on the club's booking site; in Al Warqa they start at 450 AED plus VAT for 8 sessions. The club also runs adult, ladies-only and dryland fitness classes.
The activity
Swimming, explained
Children's swimming lessons usually start with water confidence: getting the face wet, floating, kicking and moving safely through the water with support. From there, children learn to swim on their own, then build proper technique across front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, along with breathing and turns. Lessons are normally in small groups, split by ability, so a child moves up a level once they can do that stage's skills. Swimming is an important water-safety skill in a city full of pools and beaches, and it builds stamina, coordination and confidence. Many children begin group lessons at around three, and the keenest go on to join a squad and race.
Who it's for
Children from 3 years. The programmes page says the kids' classes are for ages 3 to 14, the swim-levels page says the seven levels teach children from 3 to 12, and the about page describes the club as a swim team for youth aged 5 to 18. It covers complete beginners to keen swimmers, and the squad team is for children who want to compete. Ask the provider which level and group suit your child's age.
What to expect
The first class is an initial assessment. The coaches use it to get to know you and your child and to work out a suitable programme. Group classes have up to five children. Beginners start with basic water skills in Level 1 (Star Fish) and move up a level once they reach that stage's milestones. The club's terms say each session lasts 60 minutes. Al Warqa monthly packages run at 2 or 3 sessions a week. A one-off 50 AED registration fee includes an RPC cap and a course certificate. You can ask for a male or female coach. Ask the club about the assessment fee, session times at your branch and what to bring.
