About Pirouette ballet studio by Asya Eneva Dubai
Pirouette is a classical ballet studio for children in Lemuria, Tulip Oasis 8, Wadi Al Safa 3 - Majan. It was founded in Sofia in 2018 by artistic director Asya Eneva, who graduated from Bulgaria's National School of Dance Art in 2007, danced with the Sofia National Opera and Ballet and holds a Master's in Ballet Pedagogy in the Vaganova method. The Dubai branch opened in 2023. Mentor Elena Kirova, a former principal dancer with Varna State Opera's ballet company, has taught classical ballet in the UAE since 2010. Group classes run on Monday and Thursday afternoons for ages 4-6 and 7-9, with private lessons on Tuesday and Wednesday for children preparing for competitions or auditions. The course covers Vaganova technique, repertoire and character dance, and the studio lists a Christmas recital in December and an annual concert in June. Your child's first lesson is free, booked through the form on the website.
The activity
Ballet, explained
Classical ballet is a structured dance form built on set positions, barre work, stretching and short combinations set to music. Children learn posture, balance, coordination and musicality, and the routine of a class teaches focus and discipline. Pirouette teaches the Vaganova method, a Russian system that builds technique step by step, alongside repertoire and character dance, a lively style drawn from folk dances. In Dubai, its group classes start at 4 years old, and pointe work comes later: the studio offers pointe shoes to advanced students after their second year of regular classes. It suits children who enjoy structure as much as those who love to perform.
Who it's for
Children aged 4-6 and 7-9 in the Dubai group classes. Boys and girls are both welcome: the dress code covers both. Beginners can join, and private lessons are for children preparing for competitions or auditions or aiming for a higher level. Pointe shoes are for advanced students after their second year of regular classes. Classes for other ages and support for special needs aren't listed, so ask the provider.
What to expect
Your child's first lesson is free. Book it through the form on the Dubai page, which asks for your child's age and whether they have done ballet before. Group classes last an hour: 4-5pm for ages 4-6 and 5-6pm for ages 7-9, on Mondays and Thursdays. The studio asks dancers to come in ballet clothes. For girls that means a pink short-sleeve leotard, pink ballet tights and soft pink fabric ballet shoes. For boys it's black leggings, a white T-shirt, short white socks and white soft ballet shoes. Hair goes in a bun with a hair net. Ask the provider whether this kit is needed for the free lesson.
