OneFit is a members' gym at The Ivy by Metrical in Jumeirah Village Triangle, and alongside its adult timetable it runs a dedicated kids programme. Classes are split by age: OneFit Kids for 6 to 9 year olds and OneFit Juniors for 10 to 15. Each group has three class types. Active is games, circuits and team challenges for strength, agility and endurance. Hyrox is inspired by the HYROX race format: for the younger group it means running, jumping and carrying through simple, safe exercises, and for juniors a structured introduction with running, sled work, carries and bodyweight strength scaled to their level. Warriors is a striking-based class blending martial arts techniques with cardio drills and games. Parents can pay AED 449 a month for unlimited kids classes or AED 75 for a single drop-in session, both bought online. The gym describes itself as family friendly, and it is rated 4.8 on Google from 144 reviews.

The activity

Fitness Classes, explained

Kids' fitness classes turn exercise into games. In a typical session children warm up, then work through circuits, relays and team challenges: running, jumping, crawling, carrying light weights and practising simple bodyweight moves such as squats and push-ups. Some classes borrow from sports like boxing or race-style fitness, scaled right down for young bodies. The aim is not big muscles but good all-round movement: coordination, balance, stamina, core strength and the confidence to try things in front of others. Coaches keep groups moving and change the game often so attention holds. Most programmes start from around five or six, with separate groups for older children and teens.

Who it's for

Children aged 6 to 9 (OneFit Kids) and 10 to 15 (OneFit Juniors), boys and girls. The class descriptions do not ask for any prior experience; Juniors Hyrox is scaled to each child's level. Ask the provider about support for children with additional needs.

What to expect

A first class is likely to be one of three formats for your child's age group: Active (games, circuits and team challenges), Hyrox (running, jumping and carrying; for juniors also sled work and bodyweight strength) or Warriors (martial-arts striking techniques with cardio drills and games). Class times are not published on the website, so message OneFit on WhatsApp to find a slot. The simplest way to try one is the AED 75 single-class drop-in. The site also offers a free pass to experience the gym; ask whether it covers a kids class. Ask the provider what to wear and bring, and whether gloves are provided for Warriors.
