The activity

Dance, explained

Dance classes give children a structured, fun way to build rhythm, coordination and confidence, usually learning routines set to music in a small group with a teacher. Depending on the studio, styles range from classical Indian forms and Bollywood to hip-hop, ballet or contemporary, and each one builds flexibility, memory for choreography and stage presence in its own way. Many children start with simple movement-to-music classes in the early years and move up through beginner and more advanced groups as they progress, often working towards a show in front of family. Which styles and age groups a particular studio teaches is something to ask it directly.
