The activity

Martial Arts, explained

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art famous for its fast, high kicks, and it is also an Olympic sport. In a kids' class, children warm up, then practise kicks, punches and blocks, learn set patterns of moves and, as they progress, try controlled sparring with pads and protective gear. Students wear a white uniform called a dobok and move up through coloured belts by passing gradings, which gives children clear goals to work towards. Along the way it builds balance, flexibility, coordination and fitness, and classes put a lot of weight on respect, focus and self-control. Most children start with no experience at all, and clubs usually group them by age and level.

Who it's for

Kids, teens and adults. The club's Instagram bio says it trains all ages, an April 2025 post invites kids, teens and adults to join, and its highlights include separate Kids Class and Adult Class sections. Ask the provider for the youngest starting age, levels and group sizes.

What to expect

Expect taekwondo on padded mats, with kicks, pad work and a belt system: the club's January 2026 'Welcome back' graphic talks about students working towards their next belt. Its Google listing marks membership and an appointment as required, so call +971 55 876 5483 or message the club on Instagram before your first visit rather than walking in. Ask the provider whether it offers a trial session, what kit beginners need and how long sessions last. In school holidays the club has run day camps; its summer 2025 camp mixed fun fitness, kicking drills and self-defence with ball games, group games and rope games.
