Business Bay

Master Moves Chess Club runs small-group chess coaching for kids at Bay Avenue Mall in Business Bay, with a second branch in JLT. Classes are grouped by ability rather than age, moving from a Beginner level covering piece movement and basic tactics through to an invitation-only Elite & Pro level for tournament players. Every new student starts with a free 60-minute one-on-one assessment so the coach can place them at the right level. Groups are capped at six students, and children can attend once, twice or three times a week depending on how seriously they want to take it.

The activity

Chess, explained

Chess coaching teaches kids to plan ahead, spot patterns and stay calm under pressure - one move at a time. Sessions usually start with piece movement and simple checkmates before building into tactics, calculation and tournament play. It sharpens concentration and patience as much as strategy, and most clubs take children from about age 4-5 with no prior experience needed.

Who it's for

Children from age 4 and above, with no prior chess knowledge required to join the Beginner level. Stronger players can progress through Intermediate to an invitation-only Elite & Pro programme for competitive, tournament-track kids.

What to expect

A new child's first visit is a complimentary 60-minute one-on-one assessment, used to work out their starting level and how many sessions a week suit them. After that, regular classes run in small groups of up to six students, at either the Business Bay or JLT branch, seven days a week. Pricing isn't published online - ask the club directly for current fees.
