About Kite N surf Nessnass beach

Kite N Surf is a watersports school and rental base on Nessnass Beach (also called Sunset Beach) in Jumeirah 3, the beach where the school says most of its kitesurfing lessons are held. For families, the main draws are kitesurfing lessons for kids aged 13 and above, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) lessons and rentals, kids and family kayaks you can hire, and beach birthday parties built around paddleboarding, giant 'Mega SUP' boards, kayaking and beach games. Kitesurfing is taught privately or in pairs of family or friends, with gear included, by instructors the school describes as IKO and VDWS qualified and speaking English, Arabic and Italian. The Nessnass base also has a small watersports shop, and the school lists wing foil and e-foil lessons for older riders. In past school holidays it has run kids' beach camps for ages 5-14. Prices for kitesurfing and SUP are published on its website; party prices are on request. It is rated 4.8 on Google from 217 reviews.

The activity

Kitesurfing & Windsurfing, explained

Kitesurfing means riding a small board across the water while a large kite, held on lines and a harness, pulls you along using the wind. Beginners never start on the board: first lessons cover kite theory, safety steps, launching and landing the kite on the beach, and then 'body dragging', where the kite pulls you through the water without a board. Only after that do riders try standing up. It builds balance, core strength, reading of wind and weather, and a lot of confidence in the sea. Because the kite pulls hard, schools usually set a minimum age for kids and teens, and the sport suits confident swimmers.

Who it's for

Kitesurfing lessons: kids 13 years and above, plus adults. SUP lessons are aimed at first-timers and self-taught paddlers; no minimum age is published, so ask the provider for younger children. Kids kayaks and family kayaks are available to rent. Birthday parties are tailored to the number and ages of the kids. Past holiday camps were for ages 5-14 (October 2023 dates; ask whether a camp is running this season).

What to expect

A first kitesurfing lesson (the 'Kite Taster') is 2 hours one-to-one or 3 hours for a pair, with kitesurfing gear included. It covers kite theory, the three safety steps, the wind window, launching and landing the kite, and body dragging in the water depending on progress. A first SUP lesson runs about an hour and covers water safety, reading the weather, self-rescue, launching, standing up and paddle strokes. At Nessnass an 'express' option pairs a 20-minute lesson with 40 minutes of rental. No free trial is published. Ask the provider about what to bring and the minimum swimming level.
