About Kids Zone
Kids Zone is an indoor play and early-years venue on Level 2 of Souk Al Bahar, next to Burj Khalifa and a short walk across the bridge from Dubai Mall. It has been running since 2009. The play area is walk-in, for ages 1 to 10, with climbing frames, slides, a ball pit, trampolines and quieter corners for crafts, puzzles and pretend play. For toddlers there are one-hour messy play sessions every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:30am, for ages 6 months to 3 years, with a parent alongside. On weekday mornings the Ready for School Playgroup (ages 16 months to 5 years) follows the EYFS framework from 9am to 1pm, and the Afternoon Club (ages 2 to 8) runs 2pm to 5pm with a different theme each day, from Little Scientists to Mini Chefs. Workshops for ages 2 to 12, supervised Drop & Shop care and birthday parties complete the picture. Four hours of parking at Souk Al Bahar is free with validation.
The activity
Indoor Play, explained
An indoor play centre is a safe, supervised space where children burn off energy whatever the weather: climbing frames, slides, ball pits, trampolines and tunnels, often with quieter corners for crafts, puzzles and pretend play. Climbing and crawling build strength, balance and coordination, while playing alongside other children helps with sharing, turn-taking and confidence. In Dubai's hot months it is one of the easiest ways to keep little ones active. Most centres split areas by age, so toddlers from around one year can explore their own soft-play zone while older children tackle bigger frames. Parents usually stay on site, and grip socks are a common rule.
Who it's for
Babies to 12-year-olds, depending on the programme. Play area: ages 1 to 10. Messy play: 6 months to 3 years (parent stays). Ready for School Playgroup (Morning Programme): 16 months to 5 years. Afternoon Club: 2 to 8 years. Workshops: 2 to 12 years (a parent or guardian must stay on site for under-4s). Drop & Shop: from 15 months; ask the provider about the upper age. Boys and girls. Special needs support: ask the provider.
What to expect
For the play area you simply walk in; no booking is needed, and grip socks are required (you can buy them at reception). Sessions are charged by the hour and you can stay up to 4 hours. Food is not served inside, but Souk Al Bahar's restaurants are on the doorstep. At messy play, dress your toddler in old clothes; aprons and all materials are provided and the team handles the clean-up. For the playgroup, a single trial session costs AED 150, you are welcome to stay for the first session, and children just need comfortable clothes and a water bottle. Snacks and materials are included.
