Karate365 is a Shotokan karate dojo in Lynx Business Tower, Dubai Silicon Oasis, opposite Silicon Central Mall, training to the standards of the Japan Karate Association (JKA). Its kids' karate classes take children from age 5 and are built for ages 5 to 12, with a separate Young Children batch for ages 3 to 5. Classes cover the three Shotokan pillars - Kihon (basics), Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring) - and children are grouped by age and skill level. Progress follows the JKA belt grading system, and instructors decide when a child is ready to grade. Older children can go on to represent the dojo in local and national tournaments. There is also a kids' kickboxing batch three evenings a week. Your first class is a free trial with no payment, confirmed on WhatsApp. Karate365 is rated 5.0 on Google from 218 reviews. Fees are not published, so ask on WhatsApp.

The activity

Martial Arts, explained

Karate is a Japanese striking martial art built around structured forms (kata), sparring and a belt-grading system that gives kids visible, regular progress markers. It develops discipline, focus, coordination and self-defence basics, and classes usually mix drills, partner work and conditioning. Most schools recommend starting between about 4 and 6 years old, though beginners of any age are typically welcome, and progression through belts is paced by regular gradings rather than age alone.

Who it's for

Kids karate: from age 5, with sessions designed for children aged 5 to 12 and no upper limit through the teen years; a separate Young Children programme runs for ages 3 to 5. Complete beginners are welcome. A kids kickboxing batch also runs; ages for it are not published, so ask the provider. Nothing is published on girls-only classes or special needs support.

What to expect

Book a free trial class online or on WhatsApp; there is no payment and the dojo confirms your slot on WhatsApp within a few hours. For the trial, comfortable sportswear is fine and no uniform is needed; once enrolled, students wear a karate gi, available through the academy. Classes start from the very basics, children train with others of a similar age and level, and all sessions are supervised by JKA-certified instructors. The dojo suggests two to three classes a week for steady progress.
