Hwa Rang Martial Arts Club — Dubai Taekwon-Do
About Hwa Rang Martial Arts Club
Hwa Rang Taekwon-Do Club (formerly Dubai Taekwon-Do Academy) is an ITF-certified martial arts club, registered with the International Taekwon-Do Federation under number MO790. It teaches at 9 venues across Dubai and Sharjah, one of them LVLUP Gym in Production City. There, kids aged 4-11 train on Wednesdays from 5:00 to 6:00pm, 12-year-olds to adults follow from 6:00 to 7:00pm, and a Friday class from 6:00 to 7:00pm is open to all ages. The club says its 4-year-olds learn to follow instructions and take turns while learning their first kicks. Coaching is led by Master Carlos Bazan, a 7th Dan black belt the club describes as a 3x ITF World Champion, and the club says every instructor is First Aid qualified and holds a Child Safeguarding certificate. Classes are priced per term, with a lower per-class price for 2 or more sessions a week and family and other discounts of up to 20%. The first class is a free Come & Try session, with no uniform, equipment or commitment needed. On Google, the Production City class is rated 5 from 6 reviews.
The activity
Martial Arts, explained
Taekwon-Do is a Korean martial art whose name combines the words for kicking with the foot, striking with the fist and 'the way' or art. Kids learn kicks, strikes, blocks and patterns (set sequences of moves), and work through a graded belt system that gives them a clear, visible sense of progress. Classes usually mix warm-ups, technique drills and pad work, with light sparring for older and more experienced students. Alongside fitness and coordination, it puts real weight on values such as courtesy, self-control and perseverance. Many clubs take children from around age 4, with shorter, playful classes for the youngest, and teenagers can keep training right through to adult classes.
Who it's for
Children from age 4 through teens and adults. At Production City the Wednesday classes are split into 4-11 years and 12 years to adults, and the Friday class is for all ages; beginners start with a free trial, and there is a Blackbelt Academy for students working through the belts.
What to expect
Your first class is a free Come & Try session - no uniform, equipment or commitment required. Your child just needs comfortable sports clothes (a t-shirt with joggers or leggings), bare feet on the mat and a water bottle. If they are nervous, the club says you can WhatsApp to arrange watching a class together first. At Production City (LVLUP Gym), 4-11s train on Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm, 12s to adults Wednesdays 6:00-7:00pm, and there is an all-ages class on Fridays 6:00-7:00pm. Once a child joins, they are fitted for a Dobok, the white ITF uniform, for regular classes. Belt gradings are held as a whole-club exam day.
