About Fun Robotics
Fun Robotics is a KHDA-approved learning centre in the Safestway Building on Sheikh Zayed Road, running weekly term classes for children aged 6 to 17. Courses follow four main paths: robotics with LEGO SPIKE kits, from Robotics I - SPIKE Essential (ages 6-8) up to FLL Training for FIRST LEGO League (12-15); coding, from Coding I - Introduction to Coding (6-8) through Scratch and micro:bit to Python (up to 17); game design in Roblox, Kodu and Minecraft; and design technology such as 3D modelling and printing, digital animation and AI for Kids. Most classes last 90 minutes, with after-school sessions Monday to Thursday and several slots on Saturday and Sunday. Term 1 at Sheikh Zayed Road runs 5 September to 12 November 2026, and there is a trial class so your child can sit in on a full session before you enrol. Classes are kept small for hands-on time, and the centre says it has delivered more than 1,000 workshops to over 15,000 students. It also runs programmes for schools, universities and companies.
The activity
Robotics, explained
Robotics classes teach kids to build and programme working machines, from simple motorised models to robots that sense and react to their surroundings. Sessions usually blend hands-on building with basic coding, so children learn how motors, sensors and code fit together rather than just following a manual. It builds problem-solving, patience and early engineering thinking, and often leads on to coding in Scratch or Python, game design and robotics competitions. Many centres start children at around 6 with LEGO-based kits and block coding, then move older children on to written code, electronics and competition teams in their teens.
Who it's for
Children aged 6 to 17. The youngest start with Robotics I - SPIKE Essential, Coding I - Introduction to Coding or Game Design with Roblox (all ages 6-8); Robotics II - Fun Club is 7-9; middle options include Coding II - Scratch, Machine Wiz 1, Programming with Minecraft and AI for Kids (8-12 range); teens can take Robotics III - SPIKE Prime (10-14), FLL Training (12-15), Coding IV and V in Python, Arduino (14-17) and 3D Modeling and Printing with Fusion 360 (12-17). The centre says these are recommended age ranges. No information on boys/girls groups or special needs support - ask the provider.
What to expect
Start with a trial: the centre invites children to sit in on a full session with the instructors before enrolling, and places per session are limited, so message on WhatsApp to reserve one. Classes run weekly through the term and most last 90 minutes: 5:00-6:30pm on weekdays, or weekend slots between 10:00am and 6:00pm. Groups are kept small. In a first robotics course such as Robotics I - SPIKE Essential, children build LEGO models with motors, sensors and a programmable hub, code them to move and react, and finish each unit with open build time. Fees and what to bring are not published - ask the provider.
