About Dubai Motocross Club (DMX)

Dubai Motocross Club, known as DMX, is a volunteer-run motocross club with two tracks at its Motocross Park in Jebel Ali, across from Jebel Ali Golf Resort. There is a 1.8km main track and a second track kept for junior riders only. The club says it is for all nationalities, all age groups and all levels of rider. It is a practice and racing club rather than a riding school: riders come to practise on their own bikes, and the club runs championship rounds through the UAE season, which runs from September to May. The track is open six days a week and closed on Thursdays for maintenance. Practice costs AED 100 a day per rider for non-members and AED 50 for members. Every rider must have full comprehensive personal insurance and sign an indemnity form. Spectators get in free, so younger siblings can come and watch. It is rated 4.6 on Google from 79 reviews. It suits a child who already rides and wants a proper place to practise.

The activity

Motocross, explained

Motocross is off-road motorbike racing on a closed dirt track with jumps, berms (banked corners) and bumpy straights. Riders learn to stand on the pegs, balance the bike through ruts and sand, brake and use the throttle smoothly, and take jumps with control. Children usually begin on small, low-powered bikes sized for them, riding slowly on flat ground before they move on to a full track. It builds balance, strength, concentration and confidence, and it teaches careful habits around safety. Full protective kit is standard: helmet, goggles, boots, gloves and body armour. Riding is noisy, dusty and physical, so it suits children who love bikes and are happy to practise.

Who it's for

Riders of all ages and levels, from beginners to experienced racers: the club says it is for all nationalities, all age groups and all levels of rider, and one of its two tracks is kept for junior riders only. No minimum age or bike size is published, so ask the club before you go. Riders need their own full comprehensive personal insurance.

What to expect

DMX is a practice and racing track, not a riding school. The site does not mention lessons, coaching, or bike or kit hire, so plan on your child riding their own bike in their own protective kit, and ask the club if you need anything else. You pay a practice fee per rider per day, the same on weekdays and weekends. Before riding, each rider signs an indemnity form, and the club says it does not provide insurance: riders need their own full comprehensive personal insurance and ride at their own risk. Junior riders have their own track. Families can watch free. The track is outdoors on desert sand, so expect sun, dust and noise.
