About Dubai Indoor Kartdrome
The Dubai Indoor Kartdrome is the indoor karting circuit at Dubai Autodrome in Motor City, built next to the venue's outdoor track and aimed at younger drivers. The circuit is about 620 metres long and takes up to ten drivers at a time, and children can drive from age 7 as long as they are at least 1.25m tall. A standard arrive-and-drive session is 15 minutes: three minutes of paced laps, then twelve minutes on their own. The same building houses a 400 square metre laser tag arena laid out as a glowing medieval maze, and it hosts kids' birthday parties, private tuition and holiday karting camps. For children who want more than a fun drive, the Dubai Autodrome Karting Academy (DAKA) runs a 10-week programme for ages 7 to 16 covering racing lines, braking points and steering, then overtaking, defending and kart maintenance. Everyone under 18 needs a parent or legal guardian to sign the disclaimer at registration.
The activity
Karting, explained
Karting is motorsport in its simplest form: a small, low-slung kart, a helmet and a twisting track. Children learn to hold a racing line, brake before a corner rather than in it, steer smoothly and keep an eye on other drivers, all while a marshal watches the track. It builds focus, quick reactions, spatial awareness and the confidence that comes from controlling a machine safely. Most arrive-and-drive tracks set a minimum age and height, often around seven, and children who catch the bug can move on to coached academies and club race series, where mechanical know-how and racecraft such as overtaking and defending come into play.
Who it's for
Children aged 7 and up who are at least 1.25m tall, for arrive-and-drive sessions and laser tag (laser tag is also 7+). Kids' party packages are for ages 7 to 12, with a minimum of 10 children. The karting academy (DAKA) is for ages 7 to 16, with three levels; Level 3 needs Level 2 plus at least 10 visits and 150 laps at the Indoor Kartdrome. Holiday camps are for ages 7 to 15. The outdoor circuit next door is 13+ only. Ask the provider about support for children with additional needs.
What to expect
Arrive 60 minutes before your booked time: every driver needs a valid ID, a parent or guardian signs the under-18 disclaimer, and new drivers pay an AED 15 annual membership fee. Validate your car park ticket at sign-on. A session is 15 minutes, starting with three paced minutes before your child drives on their own. Disposable gloves are sold on site; party packages include helmets, overalls and gloves, so ask the provider what kit is supplied for a normal walk-in session. Bookings cannot be refunded, cancelled or rescheduled once made, and start times can slip on busy days.
