About Dubai Creek Academies
Dubai Creek Academies is the sports coaching arm of Dubai Creek Resort, based at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club in Port Saeed, Deira. It brings three academies together on one site: the Peter Cowen Academy for golf, PBI Tennis and Viya Padel. For children, the two to know about are golf and tennis. The Peter Cowen Junior Academy takes juniors aged 4 to 17 for eight weekly 50-minute group lessons on a fixed day and time, with weekday and weekend classes, coached by PGA professionals. The package includes unlimited use of the practice facilities, a golf shirt and hat, and a Dubai Golf junior passbook, and equipment is available if your child does not have clubs yet. PBI Tennis runs a Junior Development Programme for ages 4 to 11 in groups of no more than four players per coach, using the 10 and under tennis model, so balls, court size and rackets match each child's age and level. The padel academy does not publish a junior programme.
The activity
Golf, explained
Junior golf starts with the basics of the swing: how to hold a club, stand to the ball and send it straight, first with short chips and putts and then with longer shots on the range. Children also learn the rules, etiquette and how to find their way round a course, and good junior programmes turn most of this into games and challenges so the youngest stay keen. Golf builds coordination, balance, patience and focus, and it teaches children to manage their own emotions when a shot goes wrong. Many clubs take children from preschool age with light, shorter clubs, and older juniors can move on through skill levels towards club competitions and tournaments.
Who it's for
Golf: juniors aged 4 to 17, from a first swing to advanced levels. The academy's September 2025 brochure splits this into Little Champions Creek (ages 4 to 6), the Junior Creek Golf Program (ages 7 to 17, in colour levels red-yellow and blue-purple) and a Future-Elite and Elite programme for competitive juniors, entry by a playing ability test. Tennis: ages 4 to 11 in the Junior Development Programme, grouped by age and level. Boys and girls both take part (the academy's own photos show both). No junior padel programme is published. For children with additional needs, ask the provider.
What to expect
Junior golf runs as a block of eight weekly 50-minute group lessons on a fixed day and time. The academy's brochure describes the youngest group (ages 4 to 6) as a fun game-and-task session working on fundamental movement skills alongside technique and basic rules, and certificates of achievement are part of the package. Equipment is available if needed, so your child does not need their own clubs to start. Junior tennis groups have at most four children per coach, with at least one hour a week (two or more is recommended) and match play once a child is ready. No free trial is published for either sport: ask the provider whether a taster or assessment is possible.
