About Dubai Athletics Cheer
Dubai Athletics Cheer runs a dedicated cheer gym in an 8,400 sq ft unit in the FAB Compound, Dubai Investment Park 1. The academy describes itself as the first cheer programme in the Middle East to offer a full 'cheer gym' facility, with a team of 10 coaches. Children can join weekly tumbling classes (beginner, intermediate and advanced levels), flexibility, jumps and conditioning, and flying classes, or train with one of its age-banded All Star teams - from Tiny Pearls for ages 4-7 up to squads for 11-16 year olds. Team places come through tryouts, and a team season runs for 11 months, September to July, billed monthly. Elite teams train longer and compete, with some travelling to international events; development teams cover the same fundamentals with less time commitment. There are also private lessons, school ECA/ASA programmes and hourly gym rental with a nine-panel spring floor. Classes are booked through the academy's app and online booking portal, which lists every class with its day, time and age band.
The activity
Cheerleading, explained
Cheerleading mixes tumbling, jumps, stunts and choreographed routines performed as a team. Kids start with basics such as cartwheels and handstands, work on flexibility and body positions, and later move into partner stunts, pyramids and tosses. Along the way it builds strength, flexibility, confidence and the teamwork needed to perform as a squad. The sport is recognised by the International Olympic Committee and has its own world body, the International Cheer Union, which runs World Cups and World Championships. At this gym the youngest classes and teams take children from age 4.
Who it's for
Children and teens from age 4. On the academy's booking portal, tumbling classes are for ages 5-18 (some groups from 4), flexibility runs from 5 to 20, jumps & conditioning from 4 to 20, and flying from 6 to 18. Teams are split into age bands: Tiny Pearls (4-7), Emeralds and Crystal (4-8), Topaz (5-8), Aqua and Amethyst (7-12), Rubies (7-13), Jade (9-14), and Diamond Girlz and Sapphires (11-16). Team places are by tryout. Private lessons are 'open to all ages and skill levels'.
What to expect
Tumbling classes last 90 minutes and start with basics like cartwheels and handstands, with athletes moving up levels at their own pace towards skills such as double-fulls. Would-be flyers must pass the flexibility class before joining flying. There are no trial classes on the booking portal, but single 'Casual' sessions can be booked; the 2025-26 info packet priced single sessions at AED 180 for tumbling, AED 140 for flexibility and AED 200 for flying. Teams are different: children try out, are placed by skill, experience and maturity, and commit to the full September-July season. Most teams train one weekday evening plus Saturday, and most team packages include a weekly tumbling class. Kit for classes isn't published - ask the provider.
