The activity

Dance, explained

Dance classes give kids a fun, structured way to build rhythm, flexibility, coordination and stage confidence. The youngest usually start with baby ballet, learning posture, simple steps and musicality through imaginative play. Older kids can move on to styles like acro dance, which mixes dance with handstands, balances and tumbling, or cheerleading, with its synchronised routines, chants and basic stunts. Commercial and hip-hop classes teach the moves kids see in music videos. Classes usually run in school terms and build up choreography over the weeks, and many schools give children the chance to perform on stage.

Who it's for

Children from age 2 to 11. The booking page groups this term's classes at Dubai International Academy Townsquare by age: Baby Ballet 2-3 and 3-4 years, Ballet Minis 5-7 years, Acrobatics Tots 2-3 and 3-4 years, an Acrobatics Open Class for 5-7 years, Acro Dance 7-10 years, Commercial Dance 5-7 and 7-10 years, and Cheerleading Youth 8-11 years. The October half-term camp is for boys and girls aged 3.5-12. Dance4u describes itself as inclusive, for all ages and abilities.

What to expect

Classes are grouped tightly by age, so a first session is with children at a similar stage. Sessions last 30 minutes for the youngest groups, 45 minutes for Baby Ballet 3-4 years and Ballet Minis, and 60 minutes for older groups. Term 1 runs from 7 September to mid-December 2026. You can book single classes or a term package (pro-rated if you join mid-term), and trial classes, on Dance4u's booking page, which lists the prices. Uniform items such as Acro Tots leotards are sold on the same booking page.
