Music Lessons, explained

Music lessons introduce children to an instrument or to singing through short, regular practice. Beginners usually start with rhythm, listening and basic technique, then move on to reading notation and playing or singing whole pieces. Dance classes work in a similar way: children learn steps and sequences, then put them together into routines. Both build coordination, memory, concentration and the confidence to perform in front of others. Lessons are typically weekly, either one-to-one or in small groups, and many children begin around age 4 or 5 with no experience needed. Which instruments, dance styles and age groups are taught varies from school to school, so it is worth asking before a first visit.
