What ages does Active Netball coach?

Junior Fundamentals is for girls in school years 2-6 and Youth Essentials is for school year 6+. The Elite Player Programme covers school years 4-13, and younger children can try Tots Netball (ages 2-4) or Miniballers (ages 4-7) on Sunday mornings at JVC Netball Hub; confirm those community sessions are running this term.

How much do Active Netball classes cost?

Term 1 2026/27 coaching is listed at 935 AED for 11 one-hour sessions, and pricing is pro rata depending on when you sign up. Joining now, the online shop shows 765 AED for the remaining sessions of Term 1 (late September 2026). There is a 10% sibling discount on like-for-like bookings.

Where and when are the sessions?

Term 1 2026/27: Tuesdays 4:30-5:30pm at DBS Jumeirah Park (Junior Fundamentals); Wednesdays 6-7pm (Junior Fundamentals) and 7-8pm (Youth Essentials) at Dubai College Sports Hall; Thursdays 4:45-5:45pm at Dwight School Dubai, Sports City (Youth Essentials). Leagues are at JVC Netball Hub.

What happens if we miss a session?

Termly fees already allow for the odd missed session, so there are no refunds for absences. If Active Netball cancels a class, it offers a make-up class before the end of the enrolment year. Sessions cancelled for short-notice public holidays or venue closures are not rescheduled.

Book and pay online at activenetball.com, or pay by bank transfer before the first session. For questions, WhatsApp +971 50 296 7551 or email wearenetball@activenetball.com.

Active Netball (the trading name of Active Sport Services LLC) has been growing netball in Dubai since 2014. Its base is JVC Netball Hub, where it runs leagues across six full-size courts, and its term coaching takes place at school venues around the city. For Term 1 of 2026/27 there are Junior Fundamentals sessions for girls in school years 2-6 on Tuesdays at DBS Jumeirah Park and Wednesdays at Dubai College, and Youth Essentials for school year 6+ on Wednesdays at Dubai College and Thursdays at Dwight School Dubai in Sports City. Head Coach Emily Fensome, who is also Head Coach of the UAE Netball Young Falcons, oversees the sessions so they suit each age and skill level, and beginners are welcome. Beyond coaching, families can join junior and youth leagues at JVC Netball Hub, come along to community sessions such as Tots Netball and Miniballers for younger children, or ask about the Elite Player Programme (school years 4-13), a training squad chosen by trial; this season's trials have taken place, so families new to Dubai should get in touch.

The activity

Netball, explained

Netball is a fast team game, a close cousin of basketball, played by two teams of seven on a court with a hoop at each end and no backboard. Players cannot run with the ball or dribble: they pass quickly, land on one foot and find space, and each position (Goal Shooter, Centre, Goal Keeper and so on) may only use certain zones of the court. That makes it a game of footwork, catching, sharp passing, spatial awareness and teamwork rather than size. Children usually start with simple ball skills and short-post versions of the game from around five or six, then move into full matches as they get older.

Who it's for

Term coaching: Junior Fundamentals is for girls in school years 2-6 (the Term 1 booking splits it into years 2-4 and 5-6); Youth Essentials is for players in school year 6+. Beginners and players with a few years' experience are both welcome. Junior leagues run for school years 1-8 (Mini Foundation on Sunday mornings, the rest on Friday afternoons) and youth leagues for school years 8-13 (Tuesday and Thursday evenings), all at JVC Netball Hub. The Elite Player Programme is a training squad for school years 4-13, chosen by trial; this season's trials have taken place, so families new to Dubai should get in touch. The community page (last updated February 2026; confirm current) lists Tots Netball for ages 2-4 and Miniballers for girls and boys aged 4-7 on Sunday mornings.

What to expect

Junior Fundamentals sessions are an hour of fun games, basic skills and early matchplay; Youth Essentials sessions use progressive games and drills to build all areas of a player's netball. You can book a trial class for 100 AED before buying the term package, subject to availability; get in touch to book one. Players need trainers with a non-marking sole for indoor sessions and suitable sportswear; those booked for the full term receive a training T-shirt or vest. Parents must see their child safely admitted before leaving, as coaches are not responsible for players before or after class.
