The activity

Football, explained

Youth football academies teach ball control, passing, positioning and teamwork through age-grouped training sessions, usually building towards small-sided matches. Coaching for younger children (roughly under-6 to under-8) focuses on fun, basic technique and coordination, while older age groups add tactical understanding and physical conditioning. Most academies run weekly sessions during school terms, with some offering trial sessions or assessments before a child joins a squad, and a pathway from recreational training into more competitive academy teams as skills develop. It is also a good way for children to build confidence and make friends outside school.

Who it's for

Boys and girls from U4/U5 to U16. The 2026/27 trial page lists U4/U5 and U6-U8 groups, a group for each age from U9 to U16, girls' groups for U4-U11 and U12-U16, and goalkeepers of all ages. At Dubai Heights Academy, U15 trials and the weekly goalkeeper training are confirmed. Trials for U6-U8, U9 and girls U4-U11 are at Victory Heights Primary School in Sports City, so ask which venue your child's group trains at.

What to expect

Book a free trial for your child's age group on the academy's 2026/27 trial page. Trials last 60 minutes for the Pre-Academy (U6-U8) and 90 minutes for older groups, and your child trains alongside current players in their age and ability group. Bring football boots or trainers, shin pads, a water bottle and comfortable sportswear, and arrive 10 minutes early. You are welcome to watch the whole session, and the coach talks to you afterwards; the academy says written feedback and a group recommendation follow within 24 hours. Trial places are limited, so let the academy know early if you cannot make it. For questions, call or WhatsApp 050 246 4390.
