The activity

Music Lessons, explained

Music lessons teach children to play an instrument or sing through regular sessions with a teacher, building technique, rhythm, reading music and the confidence to perform. Children usually begin with simple pieces and progress level by level, and many schools offer the option of graded exams once a stage is complete. Beyond the instrument itself, lessons build focus, patience and listening skills, and a little practice at home between lessons makes a big difference. The right starting age depends on the instrument and the child - keyboard, piano and singing are common first choices for younger children, while instruments that need more reach or strength often come a little later.

Who it's for

Children, adults and professionals. The website doesn't publish age bands per instrument - ask the provider which ages each JBR class takes.
