About Ultimate Athletics

Ultimate Athletics is a track and field academy founded in 2015 by Lisa Campbell, a UK national-level athlete. The academy is clear that it does athletics only, not other sports. It trains at school and sports venues across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, including Dubai International Academy in Al Barsha, Dubai Sports City and Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi. Every venue has its own Term 1 2026 timetable (31 August to 13 December): Tots Athletics for the youngest, Multi-Events and Just Run groups for ages 7-12, and Sprints, Middle Distance and Jumps groups for teens, mostly in the evenings on weekdays, with some weekend morning groups. Coaches are active and former athletes from several countries, according to the club. Beyond weekly training, the academy runs monthly Ultimate Racenights, camps and competitions, so children who enjoy it have somewhere to race. New families can book a free taster session through the online booking portal before paying for the term.

The activity

Track & Field, explained

Track and field, or athletics, is the family of running, jumping and throwing events you see at the Olympics: sprints, middle-distance running, hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus and javelin. Young children start with games and circuits that build speed, balance and coordination, then try the different events as they grow. Older children can begin to specialise, for example in sprints or jumps, and some move on to racing in local meets. It builds running technique, strength, confidence and a sense of personal progress, because every child is chasing their own time or distance. Many clubs take children from around four years old.

Who it's for

Children and teens in age groups set by each venue's Term 1 2026 timetable: Tots Athletics for the youngest (ages 4-6 on most sessions), Multi-Events and Just Run for ages 7-12, and Sprints, Middle Distance and Jumps groups for 13+. Youth sessions are split further by age and ability, and the exact groups differ by venue. The academy also runs adult groups.

What to expect

Tots sessions are described as a circuit of running, jumping and throwing led by several coaches. Youth athletes (7-12) are split into groups by age and ability and try multi-events, sprints and middle-distance training. Teens are guided towards events after an initial assessment. Sessions last an hour. Arrive at least five minutes early with the Ultimate Athletics kit and a water bottle, and have only a light snack beforehand. New members can book a free taster session on the booking portal before committing to a term. Younger siblings must stay with parents and off the track. Pick a branch on this page for its venue and timetable notes.
