About Treasure Pots
Treasure Pots is a pottery studio in Al Quoz 2 Industrial Area running workshops for adults and children, with kids' activities kept separate from adults and an instructor with them throughout. Children aged 3 and over can join the 60-minute Hand Building workshop, learning pinching and coiling to make their own clay piece, for AED 210 including materials, tools, firing of one piece and painting or glazing. The Pottery on the Wheel workshop is only for children aged 14 and over. Families can book the 90-minute Introduction to Pottery and Introduction to Hand Building Family Time workshops on Saturdays, and little ones can paint and decorate pieces with all painting materials included. The studio also takes bookings for birthday parties, gatherings and events. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. It is rated 4.8 on Google from 51 reviews.
The activity
Pottery, explained
Pottery gets kids hands-on with clay. Younger children usually start with hand-building: shaping clay with their hands using pinching, coiling and slab techniques, no wheel needed. Older children and teens can move on to the potter's wheel, learning to centre the clay and throw a small pot or bowl. Pieces are dried and fired in a kiln, then painted or glazed, so there is often a wait before the finished piece comes home. It is a calm, sensory craft that builds fine motor skills, concentration and patience, and suits kids who love making something they can keep. Studios set their own minimum ages, especially for wheel work.
Who it's for
Children aged 3 and over for the Hand Building workshop; the Pottery on the Wheel workshop is only for children aged 14 and over. Children under 13 must always be accompanied by an adult (18+), as staff do not provide childcare. No experience needed. Family Time workshops are for parents and children together. The studio also runs adult classes, kept separate from children's activities.
What to expect
Arrive at least 15 minutes early: late arrivals cannot be accommodated. Dress your child in comfortable clothes that can get messy, keep nails short and remove hand jewellery; bring ID for verification. Clay, tools and materials are provided and no experience is needed, as an instructor guides each step. Lockers are available. Pieces need to dry and be fired, so they are ready to collect in about two weeks, with an optional return visit for glazing. Cancel at least 24 hours ahead. Uncollected pieces are donated or recycled after 80 days. Trial classes are not mentioned - ask the provider.
