The Junction Academy is the education arm of The Junction, a community theatre that the academy says began in Dubai in 2015 and has staged more than 400 productions in English, Arabic, Hindi, French, Italian and other languages. The academy teaches drama and acting to children, teens and adults, and runs a separate programme for schools and corporate training. Its classes are built on improvisation, games, skits, scripted works and original plays, with students regularly standing up in front of the class to deliver a single message. It says its curriculum is KHDA approved, that students can take Trinity certification, and that it has trained more than 500 students. Classes are running in 2026: its Instagram announced new-term classes in August 2026, free trial drama classes for kids in August and September, and a new class in Dubai Silicon Oasis at GEMS Wellington, with groups for ages 5-9 and 10-15. Fees and a weekly timetable are not published, so message the academy for the class nearest you.

The activity

Drama, explained

Drama classes give children a safe space to play pretend with purpose. Sessions usually mix warm-up games, improvisation, voice and movement work and short scenes, and over a term a group may rehearse towards a small show. Children learn to speak up in front of a group, listen and respond to others, read a script, remember lines and use their body and voice to tell a story. Many parents choose drama for a shy child who needs confidence, or for a lively one who needs somewhere to channel it. Younger groups tend to lean on games and storytelling, while teen groups work on longer scripted pieces and stagecraft.

Who it's for

Children, teens and adults: the academy lists a Kids Acting Class, a Teen Acting Class and Adult Acting Classes, and says its theatre programmes are open to all students regardless of experience. For its Dubai Silicon Oasis trial in October 2026 it split kids into two groups, ages 5-9 and ages 10-15 (Instagram, September 2026). Age bands at other venues are not published - ask the provider.

What to expect

The academy offers a free trial class: leave your details on its website form and an administrator calls you back, or call or WhatsApp +971 50 724 4823. Its Instagram listed free trial drama classes for kids on 30 August and 6 September 2026, and a trial at GEMS Wellington in Dubai Silicon Oasis on Friday 2 October 2026 (ages 5-9 at 3-4pm, ages 10-15 at 4-5pm). Lessons are built on improvisational games, skits, scripted works and original pieces, with students regularly standing in front of the class to deliver a single message. What to wear, term length and group size are not published - ask the provider.
