About FilBrit Training Centre

FilBrit Training Centre is a KHDA and DED approved training centre on the 5th floor of Al Ghazal Office in Al Bada'a. Most of its courses are short courses for adults, from computer skills and shadow teaching to languages, baking and haircutting, but it also runs a children's strand. Under its FTC Performing Arts banner, the centre offers acting, dancing and modelling workshops for children and teenagers, a Talent Scout programme that covers acting, singing, modelling and dancing, a Master Dance Class for kids and teens, and instrument and voice lessons. The centre's FAQ mentions piano and guitar lessons. Alongside the arts, there are two learning programmes for children: Brain Enhancement, built on brain teasers, focus games and growth-mindset activities, and Reading for Success, which combines phonics and sight words. The centre says Talent Scout aims to get children showing their skills beyond the training room, whatever their nationality. Ages, prices and class times are not on the website, so call the Dubai branch to ask.

The activity

Drama, explained

Performing arts classes for children mix acting, singing, dancing and stage presence. A typical class starts with warm-ups and voice or movement games, then moves on to short scenes, songs or routines that children rehearse together and build towards a showcase. Along the way children practise speaking clearly, taking turns, remembering lines and steps, and standing up in front of an audience, which is why many parents choose drama for a shy child as much as for a confident one. Most schools take children from early primary age, with older children and teens moving on to longer pieces and more technique.

Who it's for

Children and teenagers: the centre describes its performing arts workshops as being for children and teenagers, and says the Master Dance Class caters to dancers of all levels. Instrument and voice lessons are for learners of all ages and skill levels. Talent Scout is open to children of any nationality. Reading for Success is aimed at children learning to read; the page says reading can be learned from as early as three, but it does not give an age range for the programme. Exact age bands for each programme: ask the provider.

What to expect

Talent Scout sessions cover acting, singing, modelling and dancing, and aim to get children performing beyond the training room. The Master Dance Class, led by the centre's dance instructors, covers a range of dance styles, technique and performance. Instrument and voice lessons include one-to-one teaching. Brain Enhancement and Reading for Success are taught in English by the centre's teachers. To enrol, you call the sales team, fill in an online registration form and then pay, either in cash or by card at the office or through a payment link. Trial classes, kit and session length for the children's programmes are not published: ask the provider.
