The Football Academy (TFA) has been coaching young footballers in Dubai since 2016. It was founded by Ali El Jishi, who moved to Dubai in 2012 after a playing career in England, and describes itself as "built by a coach, not a franchise". TFA trains at six venues across Dubai, from Dubai South and Dubai Investments Park to JBR and Town Square; in Dubai South it is at Central Park. Coaches are UEFA-licensed. The Dubai South page lists Elite Boots (ages 3-5), the Boys Football Academy (ages 6-16), TFA Bells, a girls' programme for ages 5-13, and TechLab small-group technical sessions for ages 6-11. Players are placed by age and current level, and can go on to real matches and competitions. Fees are published for the academy as a whole: Elite Boots starts from AED 500 a month, and the first trial session is free. Pick a branch on this page for its address.

The activity

Football, explained

Football academy sessions teach kids ball control, passing, first touch and basic tactics through drills and small-sided games, building up to full matches as skills develop. Younger groups focus on coordination, confidence and fun with the ball; older groups add positional play, fitness and competitive matches. Most academies run age-graded groups from toddlers through to teens, led by qualified coaches, with some offering girls-only groups alongside mixed or boys' squads. For a first-timer, all it takes is trainers or boots, comfortable kit and a water bottle, and most children are ready to join a group from around age 3 or 4.

Who it's for

Boys and girls aged 3-16. At Dubai South (Central Park): Elite Boots (ages 3-5), TechLab small-group technical sessions (ages 6-11), Boys Football Academy (ages 6-16) and TFA Bells girls' programme (ages 5-13). TFA assesses each player's age and current level to place them in the right group.

What to expect

The first trial session is free, with no payment needed to book; you enrol only if it suits your child. Book through the trial form on the site or on WhatsApp, and TFA confirms the session within 24 hours. Sessions are after-school evening sessions; the published timetable does not list Dubai South times, so ask the provider for the days and times at Central Park. For Elite Boots, bring comfortable clothes, trainers or soft boots and a water bottle. Sessions work on ball control, dribbling, passing and shooting, then small-sided games and match-based activities.
