About The Drum Camp
The Drum Camp is a drum school with two studios in Dubai, at IT Plaza in Dubai Silicon Oasis and Damac Smart Heights in Barsha Heights. It is a specialist drum school (it also runs guitar lessons), with students from age 6 to 70, so children learn alongside a mix of beginners and returning drummers. Lessons are private one-to-one sessions of 40 minutes, played on full-size electronic drum kits, and the school aims to get students playing along to their favourite songs early on. The curriculum combines the Trinity Rock & Pop and Rockschool grading systems with the school's own exercises, built around technique, coordination, creativity and performance, and students can sit Trinity Rock & Pop drum exams. You don't need a kit at home to start: the school suggests a pair of sticks and a practice pad first, then buying a kit after a few lessons. New students can start with a 4-class Beginner's Offer at either studio. The school is KHDA approved.
The activity
Drums, explained
Drum lessons build a child's sense of rhythm, coordination between hands and feet, and the ability to read basic drum notation. Beginners usually start with sticks and a practice pad, learning simple grooves and fills, then move onto a full kit and play along to real songs. Many schools use a graded exam system such as Trinity Rock & Pop or Rockschool, so progress can be measured one grade at a time. Children often start from around age 6: small kids may not yet reach the foot pedals, but they can still develop stick control and learn to read music. It suits children who love music and want a lively, physical instrument.
Who it's for
Children from age 6 upwards, and adults too - the school says it has students from 6 to 70. Its FAQ says that if a child can hold a pair of drumsticks and focus long enough to learn the basics, they're ready, even if they can't yet reach the foot pedals. Aimed at complete beginners as well as students working towards graded exams.
What to expect
Lessons are private one-to-one, 40 minutes each, at the studio in Silicon Oasis or Barsha Heights; the school doesn't offer lessons at home. The Beginner's Offer, offered at both studios, gives 4 private classes for AED 390, valid for 4 weeks from the first class, with 1-2 classes a week suggested and one reschedule allowed; the school says that by the end students should be able to play simple songs in time with beats and fills. The school's March 2026 Silicon Oasis post also describes a 40-minute trial session that's free if you don't enrol; ask the school whether it applies at your studio. You don't need your own kit: sticks and a practice pad are enough at first.
