The activity

Swimming, explained

Swimming lessons build water confidence first and technique second. Beginners usually start by getting comfortable in the water: putting their face in, blowing bubbles, floating on front and back and kicking with support. From there, lessons add arm strokes, breathing to the side and the basics of front crawl and backstroke, then longer swims and other strokes. Along the way swimmers learn water safety, such as how to float, turn and reach the side. Children often start from around three or four, and adults can learn at any age.

Who it's for

Children aged 3 and up in group sessions, focused on confidence, technique and water safety. Adults are coached too, in private and group sessions with evening batches. The coach covers learning to swim through to competitive and open-water swimming and offers one-to-one sessions as well as groups; ask which suits your child's age and level.

What to expect

The children's course is a block of 10 group sessions built around water confidence, correct technique and essential water-safety skills. Lessons take place at the Shabab Al Ahli Club pool, a 25m fully covered indoor pool, so they are out of the sun. The coach's June 2026 post says sessions are led by certified coaches with 5+ years of experience. Session length, group size, lesson days and times, what to bring and whether a trial session is possible are not published, so ask when you get in touch.
