Star Sport Academies runs five specialist academies for children: football (boys and girls, ages 3-21), basketball (5-18), badminton (6-18), rhythmic gymnastics (girls only, 4-18) and volleyball (6-21). Training happens at partner schools and sports facilities, with 37+ locations across Dubai and Sharjah, from Al Barsha and Mirdif to Dubai Silicon Oasis and Remraam. Not every sport runs at every venue, so check which one your child's sport uses. Each sport has its own specialist coaches, and the academy says every coach holds UAE police clearance, First Aid and Child Safeguarding certification. Children are grouped by age and ability after an assessment during their trial. Packages run for 4, 20 or 40 weeks, with sibling discounts at most academies and a reward points scheme. Every sport offers a free, no-obligation trial. The head office is in Al Quoz 1, but that is an office, not a training venue. Pick a branch on this page for its football times and ages.

The activity

Football, explained

Football sessions for children build ball control, passing, teamwork and match awareness through drills and small-sided games. Coaches usually group children by age and ability, starting with basic dribbling and kicking and moving on to positional play and proper matches as confidence grows. Younger children's sessions lean on fun, coordination and movement skills, while older players can join squads that play in leagues and tournaments. Kit is usually trainers or boots, shin pads and a water bottle. It suits energetic children who enjoy being part of a team, and it builds fitness, coordination and friendships alongside the sport itself.

Who it's for

Boys and girls from age 3. Football runs ages 3-21, basketball 5-18, badminton 6-18 and volleyball 6-21; rhythmic gymnastics is girls only, ages 4-18. Football also has dedicated girls-only sessions. The ages on offer differ by venue (for example, football at GEMS Al Khaleej in Al Warqa is for ages 12-18), so check the branch you pick. Older or stronger players can move into competitive squads and leagues.

What to expect

Start with a free trial session in any of the five sports, with no obligation to continue; trials are available at all training locations. During the trial, the coach assesses your child so they can be placed in the right age and ability group. After that you choose a 4-, 20- or 40-week package. Most sessions last an hour. Weekday sessions mostly run between 5pm and 8:30pm, and many venues also have Saturday or Sunday sessions, with some early-morning ones, so pick a branch on this page for its football times. Each academy's app covers scheduling, coach messages, payments and progress tracking.
