About Séan Garnier Urbanball Fc Football Academy
Urbanball FC is a football academy founded by French freestyle footballer Séan Garnier, training at MVP Lab in Al Quoz. Séan coaches alongside Andréas Freestyle, and the idea is to blend the traditional side of the game with freestyle flair - in Séan's words, it "isn't just about football; it's about creativity, expression, and fun." Sessions focus on technical skills, tactical awareness and physical fitness, and players can join 3v3 leagues to get match experience. The academy is open to boys and girls from age 4, and says its programmes suit all abilities, from beginners to more experienced players. The way in is a one-off tryout session (AED 150), which the academy uses to assess your child's potential and suitability for the academy. The online shop also still lists a winter camp for ages 4-16, but no dates are published. Regular training fees and weekly session times aren't on the website, so message the academy on WhatsApp to ask before you book.
The activity
Football, explained
Football for young children is mostly about getting lots of touches on the ball: dribbling, passing, shooting and small-sided games where everyone is involved. Urbanball-style training adds freestyle football to that mix - tricks, juggling and close ball control made famous by street and freestyle players - so kids learn to be creative and confident on the ball, not just to follow drills. Short formats such as 3v3 and 1v1 games give plenty of match practice without the pressure of a full-size team. Along the way children build coordination, speed, teamwork and self-belief. Many children start around age 4, once they can follow simple instructions in a group.
Who it's for
Boys and girls from age 4, all abilities - the academy says its programmes suit both beginners and more experienced players. Its winter camp listing (no dates published) was for ages 4-16.
What to expect
Start with the one-off tryout session, AED 150, booked and paid online. The academy uses it to assess your child's potential and suitability, and it covers skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting, plus fitness and teamwork. Training is at the MVP Lab training ground in Al Quoz. For its camp, the academy asked children to bring indoor shoes, 2 litres of water and snacks, so check whether the same applies to tryouts. Ask the provider about regular session times, term fees and kit.
