Rostrum Education: university admissions and tutoring in Business Bay
About Rostrum Education
Rostrum Education is a university admissions and tutoring firm with a Dubai office at 902 Citadel Tower in Business Bay. It was founded in London and also has offices in Delhi and Hong Kong. The Dubai team works with students applying to universities in the US and UK, including Ivy League and Oxford and Cambridge applications, as well as boarding schools, business, law, medical, and fashion and design schools. Support covers shortlisting universities, personal statements and essays, profile building and mock interviews. Alongside admissions it offers curriculum tutoring in IB, IGCSE, A Level and AP, and test prep for the SAT, ACT, LNAT and UCAT, among others. Sessions run online or in person at the office. Rostrum says its admissions work starts from middle school, so this is mainly for older children and teenagers; its tutoring covers younger students too. The first consultation is free, and fees are quoted individually. It is rated 4.9 on Google from 34 reviews.
The activity
University Admissions, explained
University admissions consulting helps a teenager plan and put together applications to universities, usually abroad. A counsellor works one to one with the student to build a shortlist of universities, plan subjects and activities that support the chosen course, draft and redraft personal statements and essays, prepare for admissions tests such as the SAT or LNAT, and rehearse interviews with mock sessions. It builds planning, writing and interview confidence. Most families start in the secondary years, and some begin earlier with school choices or subject tutoring. It is support at a desk rather than a class, so sessions are booked around the student's timetable.
Who it's for
Secondary-school students and their parents planning applications abroad: for admissions, Rostrum says it works with students from middle school and high school through to university admission. It also helps with applications to UK and US boarding schools, which usually take pupils aged 11 to 18. Its FAQ says tutoring covers students at all levels, from elementary school to graduate school, so for tutoring for a younger child, ask the provider. IGCSE, IB, A Level and AP tutoring suits students on those curricula. Graduate courses it also serves (GMAT, GRE, LSAT) are for adults.
What to expect
Everything starts with a free consultation. Rostrum says the student talks through their academic background, interests and goals with a consultant, hears what it takes to reach their target schools, and gets a personalised quote for the services they need, along with a view on the time and money involved. For university choices it describes a four-step process: initial consultation, research, a shortlist, then a final selection. Tutoring and test prep are one to one with a customised study plan. Sessions can be online or in person at the Business Bay office. Fees are not published for the UAE: ask the provider.
