The activity

Performing Arts, explained

Performing arts classes combine dance, drama and singing so children build confidence, coordination and creative expression alongside performance skills. A typical session moves between the three disciplines - street dance or musical theatre choreography, acting games and scene work, and pop or Broadway-style singing. Children usually progress through age-banded groups as their skills and confidence grow, with the youngest classes built around play and imagination and older groups working toward more structured routines and shows. It suits children who enjoy music and movement and typically starts from toddler age.

Who it's for

Children and teenagers aged 2 to 18, in five groups: Tots (2-3 years), Minis (4-5 years), Juniors (6-8 years), Inters (9-11 years) and Seniors (12-18 years). No special needs provision is described on the site - ask the provider if this matters for your child.

What to expect

The free trial is a full dance, drama and singing class with your child's age group. You get a welcome pack and a talk or tour with the principal, and can watch one class; after that, parents don't stay in regular classes, in line with the school's child protection policy. For the trial, children wear comfortable clothes they can move in (no jewellery, tights, dresses or denim) with clean trainers or pumps, and bring a refillable water bottle and a small healthy snack. Regular classes need the Razzamataz T-shirt, plain black bottoms and clean trainers or pumps. Trials run most weeks in the school year.
