Mohamed Bin Kadfoor Al Mehairi Center for Quran Memorization (مركز محمد بن كدفور المهيري لتحفيظ القرآن) is a Quran memorisation centre on 16C Street in Al Mizhar Second, Dubai. The English name is the one on the sign over its entrance, shown in the centre's Google listing photo: a white building with arched windows and cars parked in front. It is rated 4.7 on Google from 43 reviews, 38 of them five stars. Google lists the building as open Monday to Thursday from 7AM to 2PM and again from 3PM to 8:30PM, and on Sunday from 7AM to 2PM, and closed on Friday and Saturday. These are the building's hours, not class times. Ages, whether circles are for boys, girls or both, fees and the class timetable are not published online, so call +971 4 379 4415 to ask which circle would suit your child and how to register. Google notes a wheelchair-accessible entrance and car park.

The activity

Quran, explained

Quran memorisation (tahfeez or hifz) is usually taught in small circles, called halaqat, led by a teacher. A child reads a short passage aloud, learns it by heart in small steps and recites it back, and the teacher corrects pronunciation and the rules of recitation (tajweed) before the child moves on. Revising what has already been learned matters as much as new passages, so regular attendance is part of it. Children practise memory, focus, patience and reading aloud with confidence, and many families see it as a way to connect children with their faith and with Arabic. Centres usually group children by age and level, so ask how a new child is placed.

Who it's for

Not published. Ask the provider which ages the centre takes, whether circles are for boys, girls or both, and whether it teaches beginners as well as children who are already memorising.

What to expect

Nothing about a first session is published, so ask the provider. When you call, ask how a new child is placed (by age, by level or after a short reading check), how long each session lasts and on which days your child would attend, whether a child can try a session before registering, what to bring (a mushaf, a notebook) and any dress code, and whether there are fees or a set registration period for the new term. Google lists the building as open from 7AM Sunday to Thursday, with evening hours to 8:30PM Monday to Thursday, so a call in those hours on +971 4 379 4415 is the way in.
