About Melody Makers

Melody Makers is a music, dance, art and communication school at Karama Center in Al Karama, teaching piano, keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, violin and singing alongside Western dance, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, art and craft, and speech & drama. It offers door-to-studio transport to selected Dubai locations and live online lessons over Zoom, with students joining from across the UAE, India and Australia. The activity

Music Lessons, explained

Music lessons teach a child an instrument or singing technique one-to-one or in a small group, usually building from basic rhythm and note-reading up to playing full pieces. Common starting instruments for young children include piano and keyboard, with guitar, drums, violin and singing also popular as kids get a little older. Regular practice between lessons builds coordination, discipline and confidence, and many programmes also prepare students for recognised exams. A good age to start is often quoted as around 4 to 7 for piano, though it varies by child and instrument.

Who it's for

Children from age 4 through to adults. Piano has a playful, game-based start for young beginners aged 4-7; dance is grouped as Little Ones 4-7, Children 8-12, Teens 13-18 and Adults 18+; speech & drama is for kids and teens aged 5 to 17; art is 'from age 4 to adult'. Ask the provider about the youngest age for other instruments and classes.

What to expect

New students can book a free 30-minute trial lesson at the Karama studio - no commitment and no payment required. Piano and other music lessons then run for a full hour, one-to-one or in a group of up to three, each student on their own instrument; speech & drama sessions are also one hour in small groups. Trinity exams are optional - many students learn purely for enjoyment. Online lessons over Zoom are also available. Ask the provider what to bring to a first lesson.
