The activity
Swimming, explained
Swimming lessons teach children to be safe and confident in water, then to move through it well. Beginners start with water confidence: getting their face wet, blowing bubbles, floating on their front and back and kicking with support. From there they learn to glide, breathe and swim short distances unaided, before moving on to proper strokes such as front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke. Lessons build water safety, stamina, coordination and confidence, and a child who can swim can enjoy pools, beaches and holidays with less worry. Many swim schools take children from around three or four in small groups, with private lessons for nervous swimmers.
Who it's for
Not published. The academy does not publish the ages or levels it teaches: ask the provider which ages it takes, whether complete beginners and non-swimmers are welcome, and whether it offers group or private lessons.
What to expect
Little Champions Swimming academy does not publish what a first lesson looks like, how long lessons last, how many children are in a group, whether there is a trial lesson or what kit is needed. Before the first lesson, ask the provider which pool and which Al Mushrif Park entrance to use, where parents wait and whether they can watch, and what your child should bring (swimwear, a towel, goggles and a swim cap are worth checking). Also ask whether the pool is outdoors and how lessons run in the summer heat. Call or WhatsApp +971 58 581 5938.
