The activity

Multi-Sport, explained

Multi-sport programmes let kids try several activities - here basketball, football, gymnastics, tennis and athletics - rather than committing to one from the start. Sessions typically mix skill drills with small games: dribbling and passing in basketball and football, balance and floor work in gymnastics, footwork and strokes in tennis, running, jumping and throwing in athletics. Moving between sports builds general fitness, coordination and teamwork before a child specialises. At Lionheart, the basketball and football groups start at age 4, and its multi-sports holiday camp has taken children from age 3. It suits younger children still discovering what they enjoy, and holiday camps are an easy way to try it.

Who it's for

Children from age 4 up to teens, and adults too. Basketball groups: Little Lions (ages 4-7), Junior Ballers (8-12), Elite Performance (13+). Football: Youth Development Program (ages 4-12) and Elite Training Program (13-18). The basketball page welcomes beginners through to experienced players. Past holiday camps listed on the site took ages 3-17 (multi-sports camp) and boys 4-9 and girls 4-17 (basketball camp). Gymnastics, tennis and athletics ages aren't stated - ask the provider.

What to expect

The basketball programme is built around shooting, dribbling, passing and defence, with fitness work and friendly matches; the youngest group, Little Lions, learns through playful drills. Football starts with a 'play-to-learn' approach for ages 4-12. Gymnastics covers balance, vault, bars and floor routines, and tennis works on serves, volleys, forehands, backhands and footwork. The 'Register Now' page invites you to book a free trial, and the basketball page also offers a free consultation to find the right programme. Kit is sold separately (T-shirt AED 20, regular uniform AED 175, match kit AED 150). Session length and weekly timetables aren't published - ask the provider.
