The activity
Drama, explained
Drama classes for children use games, improvisation, storytelling and short scenes to build confidence, speaking skills and creative expression. Groups are usually split by age: younger children work through imaginative play and movement, while older ones move on to scripts, characters and performing on stage. No acting experience is needed to start, and many drama programmes put as much weight on communication and teamwork as on performance itself. Some finish a term with a small show for families, so it is worth asking how a class you are considering works.
