Its coaching page lists Mina Rashid (including a ladies-only site), Brighton College & Bloom World Academy, Kite Beach and Ripe Market as coaching locations, and says coaching is open to children from 4 years old, with private, semi-private (up to two players) and group (up to four players) sessions of 45 minutes. Coaches start with a free assessment to find a player's level. Families can also hire a court by the 45-minute slot, with rackets available to rent at most venues. The activity

Padel, explained

Padel is a fast racket sport played in doubles on a small court enclosed by glass walls and mesh. Players use a short, solid, stringless racket and a low-pressure ball, serve underarm, and can play the ball off the walls, a bit like squash. Because the court is small and the serve is easy, beginners usually get rallies going quickly, which keeps children keen. It builds hand-eye coordination, footwork, quick reactions and teamwork, since you always play with a partner. Many clubs take children from primary-school age, often starting with private or small-group coaching before moving on to games; each club sets its own minimum age.

Who it's for

Children from 4 years old and adults: Just Padel's coaching page gives 4 as the minimum age for coaching. Coaching is split by session type (private, semi-private, group) rather than by named junior age bands, and levels are set through a free assessment. Boys/girls groups and support for special needs are not stated, so ask Just Padel. Coaching is listed at some venues only, so check yours.

What to expect

A coaching session lasts 45 minutes, either one-to-one, with up to two players or in a group of up to four. Just Padel says its coaches give a free assessment to find your child's playing level before placing them. Outdoor courts, such as Brighton College and Kite Beach, are hotter in summer, so an evening slot is the cooler choice; Mina Rashid also has indoor, air-conditioned courts. Rackets can be rented at the venues. The website does not say what kit children need, whether there is a separate kids' group timetable at each venue or whether a trial session is offered beyond the assessment, so ask Just Padel.
