It's Just Cricket is a cricket academy run by Infinite Sports, and Dubai College in Al Sufouh 2 is one of its four Dubai school venues, alongside Jumeirah College, Uptown International School in Mirdif and English College Dubai in Al Safa 1. Sessions are open to children from any school, not only Dubai College pupils. The pathway starts with FUNdamentals for boys and girls aged 4-5, where a parent joins in, then Juniors Softball for ages 6-10, Juniors Hardball for boys aged 11-13, Senior Boys for 14-18 and an all-girls hardball group for ages 12-18. There are adult sessions and one-to-one private coaching too. The academy says its programmes follow long-term athlete development principles, and that every player plays at least six games a term. It suits families who want structured, match-focused cricket rather than a casual hit-about. The website does not say which groups train at Dubai College or when, and fees are not published, so message the academy before you book.

The activity

Cricket, explained

Cricket is a bat-and-ball team game: one side bowls and fields while the other bats, scoring runs and protecting the stumps. Young children usually start with a soft ball and a light or plastic bat, so early sessions are games that teach catching, throwing, hitting a moving ball and running between the wickets. As players grow they move to a hard leather ball with pads, gloves and a helmet, and coaching turns to batting technique, bowling actions, fielding and match tactics. Cricket builds hand-eye coordination, concentration, patience and teamwork, and it is a big part of school sport in Dubai. At this academy the youngest group starts at four.

Who it's for

Boys and girls from age 4. FUNdamentals is for ages 4-5 (a parent takes part) and Juniors Softball for boys and girls aged 6-10. Hardball groups are Juniors Hardball for boys aged 11-13, Senior Boys for 14-18 and Girls Hardball for girls aged 12-18. Adults (19+) of all abilities and private one-to-one coaching are also offered. Children from any school can join. Support for additional needs is not mentioned on the website: ask the academy.

What to expect

Book through the academy's online portal on ClassCard, where you choose your venue and programme, or call or WhatsApp +971 58 102 6547 and the team will talk you through it. FUNdamentals sessions for 4-5 year olds are cricket-themed games for motor skills and coordination, with a parent joining in. Juniors Softball uses a soft ball and focuses on core skills, teamwork and confidence, while the hardball groups work on technique, game awareness and match preparation. The portal also sells a club uniform and junior kit such as batting gloves with a plastic bat. Session length, the Dubai College timetable and any trial policy are not published, so ask the academy.
