About ICC Academy Dubai
ICC Academy is a purpose-built cricket centre in Dubai Sports City's Sports Village, right next to the International Cricket Council's headquarters. Alongside its high-performance and education work, it runs a junior pathway: Cricket Cubs, an introductory programme for children aged 4-6 covering fundamental movement, game play and social skills, and ADIB Warriors, age-group coaching for girls and boys aged 6-18. It also lists a Strikers programme, holiday camps, one-to-one coaching and tours. Coaching runs in two 15-week terms (January to April and September to December), with one, two or three sessions a week (the options differ for each group), and groups of 8-10 players per coach. The academy says all its coaches hold ICC Level 1, 2 or 3 accreditation. Facilities include an air-conditioned indoor centre with six practice pitches, a BatFast batting simulator lane, PitchVision video analysis cameras, two floodlit full-size ovals and a floodlit outdoor practice area. It is rated 4.5 on Google from 705 reviews. Prices aren't published online, so email or call for current term fees.
The activity
Cricket, explained
Cricket coaching for children builds hand-eye coordination, throwing and catching, batting timing and bowling technique, along with teamwork and fair play. Junior sessions usually mix skill drills - throwdowns, catching practice, bowling in the nets - with small-sided games so children spend plenty of time with the ball. As players progress they move into age-group squads and start playing matches and festivals against other teams. Some academies add training technology such as bowling machines, batting simulators and video analysis to help older players refine their technique. Many children begin with a fun, movement-based introductory group from around age 4 or 5 before joining a structured age-group programme.
Who it's for
Girls and boys from age 4: Cricket Cubs is for ages 4-6 and ADIB Warriors covers ages 6-18, with a Senior Warriors programme for adults (18+). The academy's FAQ says its coaching programmes start from age 5 and cater for all levels, so check with the academy if your child is 4. Special-needs provision isn't mentioned on the website - ask the provider.
What to expect
Group coaching runs in 15-week terms with 8-10 players per coach, on set days, with one, two or three sessions a week (the options differ for each group) - so training once a week gives 15 sessions. Cricket Cubs focuses on fundamental movement, game play and social skills; ADIB Warriors offers age-group coaching at every level. Bring your own kit: the academy does not provide equipment or cricket gear for training sessions, though its retail partner AJ Sports has a shop on site. Trial sessions aren't mentioned on the website - ask the provider. To register, email [email protected] and the team will get back to you.
