About iQ Tennis Academy Nikki Beach

iQ Tennis Academy is a Dubai tennis academy that coaches juniors and adults from first-timers to competitive players. Nikki Beach Dubai on Pearl Jumeira is one of its four venues, with a blue, floodlit hard court; the others are the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management in Umm Suqeim 3 (its main venue), the Four Seasons Resort at Jumeirah Beach and Zabeel Ladies Club. For younger children there is a Mini Red group for kids up to 8, played on a mini court with a maximum of four players. Older and more experienced players join group lessons of up to four, split by level: orange ball on a three-quarter court, green ball on a full court, or the regular hard ball. Private and semi-private lessons are also on offer, plus holiday camps during UAE school breaks. Term prices are published on the academy's website, and it is worth asking which programmes run at the Nikki Beach court.

The activity

Tennis, explained

Tennis coaching teaches kids to hit forehands, backhands, serves and volleys, building hand-eye coordination, footwork and match awareness. Young beginners usually start on a smaller court with a slower red ball, then move up through orange and green balls to the regular hard ball as their strength and control grow. Group sessions build rallying skills and friendly competition, while private lessons focus on technique one-to-one. Players progress by skill level rather than strictly by age, and over time the sport builds strength, balance, concentration and good sportsmanship. Holiday camps are a common way to add extra court time during school breaks.

Who it's for

Kids up to 8 join the Mini Red group on a mini court. Group lessons are open to all levels and ages, with players placed in skill-level groups (orange ball, green ball or regular hard ball). Private and semi-private lessons suit players of all ages and abilities, from first-timers to tournament players.

What to expect

New players go into the Mini Red group (kids up to 8, 45 minutes) or a skill-level group (1 hour), with no more than four players on court, once or twice a week over a school term. Coaches give tips to the whole group plus individual pointers during the lesson. Private lessons run 45 minutes or an hour. Rackets of 17-23 inches are recommended for Mini Red players. Registration is through the academy's online form, which includes a signed waiver. Ask the provider about a trial session and which days groups run at Nikki Beach.
