About Harmony Ballet & Music Centre
Harmony Ballet & Music Centre is a dance and music studio at Ibn Battuta Gate in Jebel Ali Village, for children and adults. Its core is classical ballet, from Primary classes through the graded levels to Diploma, with the option to sit British Theatre and Dance Association (BTDA) exams. Alongside ballet it offers individual piano, violin, vocal and guitar lessons, with ABRSM and Trinity exams for musicians, plus a hip-hop group; the website also describes contemporary dance and children's yoga, which are not on the current timetable. The Head of Ballet trained at the St Petersburg State Conservatory and teaches the Vaganova method; the piano team includes a Moscow State Conservatory graduate. The centre says it has 12 years of experience and more than 800 students. Piano, violin and guitar lessons can be taken at the studio, online or at home, and every programme has a "Book trial lesson" button on the website.
The activity
Ballet, explained
Ballet class teaches children posture, balance, coordination and musicality through structured barre and floor work, building up from simple steps to a graded syllabus. Most schools start children around age 4 with a pre-primary or primary level focused on fun and movement, then progress them through numbered grades with optional exams. It builds discipline, body awareness and confidence, and often becomes a stepping stone into other dance styles. Harmony Ballet & Music Centre also runs music lessons and other dance styles alongside its ballet programme.
Who it's for
Children from age 4 and adults. Ballet: Pre-primary and Primary are for age 4 and above (no exams at Pre-primary); for the graded levels the teacher decides which grade suits each child, with Grades 2-6 an estimated 5-12; Advanced Foundation is for over-12s, then Advanced 1-2 and Diploma. The published timetable lists its groups by age (for example Primary 4-5, Intro to Grade 1 5-6). Piano, violin and vocal from age 4; guitar from age 7; hip-hop groups for ages 7-10 and 10+; contemporary dance is listed for 10+ - ask the provider whether a group is running.
What to expect
Start by booking a trial lesson through the website's "Book trial lesson" button; the trial price and format are not published, so ask the provider. Young beginners usually start in Primary, which the school strongly recommends studying first as the first step in ballet. Older or experienced children are placed in a grade by the teacher according to their experience. Ballet is taught in group and individual classes; private lessons are offered for technique and competition solos. Piano, violin, guitar and vocal lessons are one-to-one; piano, violin and guitar can be at the studio, online or at your home. Kit and uniform are not listed - ask the provider.
