About FuturePro Sports
FuturePro Sports is a tennis academy that coaches at the Iranian Club and Glendale International School in Oud Metha and at District 2, Court 1 in Jumeirah Park. At GEMS Modern Academy in Nad Al Sheba it runs an after-school programme for that school's students only. Children's groups are set by age and ball speed: Red Tots (5-8) with a slower red ball, Orange Aces (8-10) on a smaller court, and Junior Champs (10-14) on a full court with a green ball. A Junior Elite Program mixes private lessons, group sessions and tennis fitness for young players starting to compete, and a school programme for FS2 to Year 3 is delivered inside partner schools. The academy says it was founded in 2010 by Radhika Tulpule-Kanitkar, coach of India's women's squad, and now runs 12 centres across the UAE, Argentina and India. Its admin office is in Barsha Heights and is not a court. Families start by booking an assessment on the website.
The activity
Tennis, explained
Tennis for kids builds hand-eye coordination, footwork and racket skills through drills and mini-matches. Younger children usually start on a smaller court with a lighter racket and slower, softer balls, then move up to a full-size court and standard balls as they grow. Coaches mix technique (forehand, backhand, serve) with game play, so children learn to rally and keep score as they progress. It suits kids who enjoy both building their own skills and a bit of friendly competition, and many programmes, including this academy's Red Tots group, start from age 5.
Who it's for
Children aged 5 to 14 in the age-group programmes: Red Tots (5-8), Orange Aces (8-10) and Junior Champs (10-14), which runs in two levels so 10-14-year-old beginners can join. There is also a Junior Elite Program for competition players and evening programmes for adults. The FS2 to Year 3 school programme is delivered within partner schools, and the GEMS Modern Academy programme is for GEMS Modern Academy students only. Ask which programme runs at the venue where your child would train.
What to expect
The first step is the website's Book Assessment form, where you choose the location you're interested in; the academy says its co-ordinator then gets in touch to help you start. Red Tots is based on ITF Tennis 10s and uses red balls that are larger and 75% slower than standard yellow balls, teaching basic strokes, movement, co-ordination, the rules and scoring through games and fun competitions. Orange Aces uses an orange ball 50% slower on a smaller court, and Junior Champs plays full court with a green ball 25% slower before moving to yellow balls. Ask the provider whether the assessment is charged, what to bring and the batch times at your venue. Pick a branch on this page to see its address and contact route.
