About Explorers
Explorers is an indoor play centre on Level 1 of City Centre Mirdif, inside the North Food Court. Children buy a timed pass for its Adventure Play areas: Wildwood Treetops, a multi-level world of climbing, sliding and crawling; River Play, a splash-filled water play space; and Little Acorns, a gentler space with sensory activities for younger children. Passes are sold for ages 1-12, and each area has its own height rules. Adults enter free, and brothers and sisters get 15% off from the second child. Alongside free play, Explorers runs staff-led workshops for cooking, woodwork, confidence-building and Picasso painting, each with its own age band, plus pottery painting in its café from age 2. It is open from 10am daily, until 10pm Monday to Thursday and until midnight Friday to Sunday.
The activity
Sensory Play, explained
Sensory and adventure play gives young children space to learn through their bodies: climbing, sliding, crawling, splashing in water and handling different textures. It builds balance, coordination and confidence, and water and sensory areas let little ones experiment with cause and effect. Indoor play centres usually sell timed passes rather than terms, so it suits a drop-in afternoon rather than a weekly class. Toddler zones let the youngest play gently, and children who are older or taller can explore more on their own. Many centres also run short creative workshops, from cooking to painting, for children who want something more structured.
Who it's for
Play passes are sold for ages 1-12 (the FAQs say children from 10 months), but entry to each area is by height: children under 75 cm cannot use the play areas, Wildwood Treetops starts at 90 cm, children under 110 cm play with an adult (18+) supervising, and children 110 cm and over may play on their own. Workshops have their own age bands on the pricing page: Picasso Artists 3+, Mamalu Kitchen cooking 4-12 (the workshops page says 5-12), The Confidence Lab 4-12, StuDIYo Lab woodwork 5-12, and Pottery Painting 2+. Workshops are child-only unless labelled "Parent & Child". Children of Determination enter free with one accompanying adult.
What to expect
Booking ahead is recommended but not required for play; workshops and birthday parties must be booked. Before your child plays, you sign a waiver (valid for a year) using the QR codes in the queue or at reception. Everyone takes shoes off; socks are required in the Free Play and Toddler areas and are sold at reception. River Play is barefoot, with mats to dry feet. A wristband or QR code handles entry and exit, and you get a WhatsApp message 15 minutes before time is up. You can extend the pass from that message, and a late collection fee may apply after 15 minutes.
