About DuDive

DuDive is a springboard and highboard diving club based at Hamdan Sports Complex, opposite Global Village. The club describes itself as the first and only springboard and highboard diving club in the UAE. Its Learn-to-Dive lessons take children from 4 years old, as long as they can swim in deep water, and run over five levels based on a diver's age and ability; adults are welcome too. Lessons run Monday to Thursday, are taught by qualified diving instructors and follow three terms in line with the school year. Beyond weekly lessons there are squads for more committed divers, holiday camps in the school breaks, private sessions and a one-hour Pay N Play open session for anyone who can swim in deep water (ask the club for this term's schedule). The club also runs DuDive Gymnastics for ages 3 to 8 on Saturday mornings, supervised by founder Tom Roberts, a former international gymnast. Fees are published on the club's website, and bookings go through the website, email or WhatsApp.

The activity

Diving, explained

Springboard and highboard diving is the Olympic sport of jumping from a flexible board or a fixed platform into a deep pool, with shapes, twists and somersaults added as skills grow. Beginners start with simple entries from the poolside and low boards, then learn take-offs, body positions and safe landings in the water. A lot of the training happens on dry land too: trampolining, gymnastics, yoga, and strength and conditioning work. It builds body awareness, core strength, flexibility and plenty of courage. Children usually need to be confident swimmers in deep water before they start, and some clubs take them from around four.

What to expect

Learn-to-Dive lessons introduce the basics of diving, run by qualified diving instructors, with each child placed in one of five levels by age and ability. Children must swim in deep water and arrive on time in the correct clothing. Training also uses trampolining, gymnastics, yoga, and strength and conditioning work out of the pool. For a first taste, Pay N Play is a one-hour open diving session in the competition pool. The last published schedule (Friday 5:30-6:30pm, AED 35, March-July 2026) has ended, so ask the club for this term's schedule and price. Book in advance; a 48-hour cancellation policy applies.
