The activity

Tuition Centre, explained

Tutoring gives a child focused academic support outside the school day, whether they are catching up, stretching ahead or preparing for exams. Good tutoring follows the child's own school curriculum, so the tutor can spend extra time on the topics a child finds hardest instead of working through a fixed syllabus. Children build confidence as much as knowledge, and small groups add the chance to learn alongside others at the same level. Younger children usually start with reading, phonics and number work, while older students add subject-specific and exam coaching such as GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level or IB. Lessons can run one-to-one or in a small group, in a centre, at home or online.

Who it's for

Primary and secondary students. Science tutoring covers Grade 4 to Grade 12 and A-Level tutoring covers Year 12 to Year 13; the centre's group-classes page describes its tutoring as tailored from age 3 to 18. English and Arabic classes are also offered to adults. Childcare is offered at the centre or at home; the centre does not state an age range for it.

What to expect

The centre advertises a free trial session or free assessment: you fill in a short form or message on WhatsApp, choose a time and meet the tutor. For primary tutoring it describes a pre-level assignment to judge a child's current level, then placement with a teacher, weekly assignments and a monthly report to parents. Group classes have a maximum of five students of the same age and ability. Lessons need 24 hours' written notice to cancel or reschedule, and a late arrival still ends at the scheduled time. Ask the provider about prices and what to bring.
