Martial arts classes teach children a structured set of movements - strikes, stances, kicks and forms - inside a system with clear rules and a visible sense of progress. Wushu and Kung Fu, the Chinese styles, build flexibility, coordination and discipline through pattern-based training, while Tai Chi is slower and focuses on balance, posture and breathing. Boxing, kickboxing and Muay Thai bring in pad work and conditioning, and Filipino Arnis adds stick techniques and practical self-defence. Classes usually mix a warm-up, technique drills and games or pad work. Starting ages vary from club to club, so check the age band before booking a first class.
