The activity

Science Tutor, explained

Academic tutoring helps children and teens strengthen subject knowledge, exam technique and study habits alongside school. For science, that usually means working through physics, chemistry and biology topics, practising past papers and filling gaps the school week leaves behind. Sessions follow a school curriculum such as IGCSE, A Levels or the IB, one-to-one or in small groups. It suits students who need extra support in a specific subject, want to get ahead, or are preparing for a big exam, and it is most common from the middle years of secondary school. Tutoring can run in person or online depending on the provider.

Who it's for

Secondary-school students following IGCSE/GCSE, AS & A Levels, IB MYP or IBDP, plus teens preparing for SAT, IELTS or TOEFL. The private-candidate programme is aimed at students who arrive in the UAE mid-year, gifted or slower learners, students with learning difficulties and young athletes whose training disrupts school. Specific ages are not published - ask the provider.

What to expect

StayAhead offers trial sessions so a student can try the tutoring approach and meet the tutors before committing to a full programme. IGCSE sessions typically last around 1 to 2 hours, and longer sessions can be arranged. Lessons focus on subject review, past-paper practice and exam strategy, with help on homework too, and tutors work across CIE, Edexcel, AQA and IB boards. Sessions can be in person, online or hybrid, and can be rescheduled if you let them know in advance. Prices are not published - ask the provider.
